The U12 Girls from the Empire United Soccer Academy of Buffalo traveled outside of New York April 17 & 18 to compete with some of the best soccer teams in Northern Ohio!
In the group round, our girls from Buffalo won three straight games against the Cleveland Impact (4-2), Cleveland FC (3-2), and Excalibur Soccer Club (1-0) the Ohio US Club champion. Even though the girls were playing outside for the first time this season and battling 40-degree weather, they performed admirably against some very tough teams.
Advancing to a final against the Cleveland Whitecaps meant a rematch with the team that defeated them at the previous year’s tournament. Right away, the girls scored two quick goals to seize the advantage. The Whitecaps pressed hard, but the Buffalo team played smart and worked hard defensively to hold their lead. Revenge was sweet, and in the end, the 2-1 victory meant that the girls walked away as 2010 Northern Ohio Cup U12 Champions!
