Stephen Baker Named U.S. Development Academy's U17/18 Player of the Week

Stephen Baker scored the game winner in a 2-1 victory over Match Fit Chelsea on Saturday.  He now has 13 goals in 14 games this season and has risen to sixth place in the Top 10 Leading Scorers list for the U-17/18 age group.  The six-foot forward has scored in eight different games this season and has recorded a three game goal-scoring streak at the Winter Showcase in December 2009.

Empire United will hit the road for the better part of April, visiting conference opponents Potomac Academy and D.C. United, followed by a trip to divisional opponents New England Revolution and FC Greater Boston.

Stephen lives in Penfield, New York.  He is a senior at McQuaid Jesuit High School.  He finished his high school soccer career with 118 goals and 44 assists.  In his senior season, Stephen was voted the All-Greater Rochester Player of the Year as well as being named an NSCAA/Adidas All-American.  He is in his 3rd season with the Empire United’s US Development Academy team.

Prior to playing for the Empire United’s US Development Academy program, Stephen played for the Rochester Jr. Rhinos for 8 years.  He also added a year of ODP, where he was a starting forward.

Stephen will be attending the Ivy League’s University of Pennsylvania in the fall where he will continue to play soccer.
