Every once in a while something comes along that invokes change at a revolutionary pace. Five years ago US Soccer decided to launch the US Soccer Development Academy. They had pretty high expectations for changing the way players were being developed and identified across the country. After year one, they were shocked at how well the program was accepted and now five years later their impact has been immeasurable. Players participating in the Development Academy are training and competing at a level no club program could have created. Our top players are now being exposed on a regular basis to college coaches, professional team coaches, and national team staff. It is an exciting time for men’s soccer in the US.
